Course Introduction

The Migration from iBOLT V2.5 to 3 course is a classroom course intended to teach the new features and enhancements available in iBOLT V3.

The main objective of the course is to provide the students with knowledge about the suggested methodology in defining a successful iBOLT project and how to use the new features and enhancements provided in the new version. When the course is completed, the student will have a good knowledge of iBOLT V3 and will be able to successful migrate a project developed in a previous version.

The course comprises 15 content modules (chapters). These modules were written in logical order according to the suggested development methodology.

We have added many screenshots to the course, in order to help you make sure that you are on the right track and following instructions properly.

Target Population

iBOLT implementers who have a good knowledge of previous versions and need to learn about iBOLT V3.

Prerequisite Knowledge

A student who participates in the course must meet the following requirements:

Environment

  1. English reading / writing - basic knowledge
  2. Know how to browse a Text file / HTML file
  3. Know how to install / uninstall software using an installation program
  4. Be familiar with Windows Administrative tools
  5. Be familiar with the Computer Management tool

Development Knowledge

  • Full knowledge of  iBOLT 2.5
  • Familiar with the following subjects:
    • World Wide Web
    • Databases
    • Web services technology
    • XML 

Web Technology

  1. Know what a Web browser is
  2. Know how to navigate the Web using a Web browser
  3. Have basic knowledge of the following:
    • Web server
    • Web site
    • Address/URL
    • HTTP protocol

Databases

  1. Know what a relational database is
  2. Familiar with the following database terms:
    • Database
    • Table
    • Row / record
    • Field
    • Index
    • Segment
  3. Know the relationships between the above objects
  4. Knowledge about SQL statements 
  5. Basic knowledge about transactions and locking

Web Services

  • Know what a WSDL is

XML

Familiar with the following XML-related terms:
  • XSD
  • Element
  • Compound
  • Namespaces (optional)

Setting Up Your PC for this Course

Computer Requirements

Hardware minimum requirements:

Platform: Windows® 2000 Pro / XP Pro / Vista
Processor: Pentium® IV 1.8GHz or higher
RAM: 2GB or greater for deployment, 1GB for development
Hardware: CD drive
Free Space on hard disk: 1GB or more

Display properties and font settings:

1024 X 768 minimum

Software Requirements

Windows® 2000 / XP Supervisor access level is required.
Microsoft© SQL Server 2000  Microsoft© SQL Server 2000 should be installed (and work) on your computer.

sa (Server administrator) access is required.

For Windows® 2000 Pro / XP Pro users Supervisor access level is required.
Microsoft© SQL Server 2000  Microsoft© SQL Server 2000 (or later) should be installed your computer. 
Server administrator access is required.
Personal Web Server A Personal Web Server (IIS) should be installed on your computer (available on your Windows operating system installation disk).
Browser

MSIE 6.0 or later.
Note: This course may or may not work on other browsers.

Messaging queue Microsoft Messaging Queue (MSMQ) should be installed on your computer (available on your Windows operating system installation disk).
Email server Install the MailEnable software. This is provided on the course CD/package.
Email access (optional) Sending email:
  • Valid SMTP server address
  • Valid email address
