Asama Software Builds Rich Internet Insurance Application 50% Faster using uniPaaS RIA

The Customer

Asama Software (www.asamasoft.co.jp) is headquartered in Saku City, Japan. The company specializes in customized business software development for real-estate and has developed the “NEWS” application for short term, small insurance businesses. The company employs eight people, including a single developer.

The Challenge

e-Net is an insurance company that specializes in selling short-term, low-cost insurance for home contents. The company filed for business registration in May, 2008 and requested system development by Asama Software to meet the company’s application needs, working under the assumption that they would receive registration approval within 3 months.

Asama was tasked with designing an application to be used by e-Net’s insurance agents, many of whom were not tech-savvy. They would be looking to log-in via the web, then update and maintain the various contracts and home contents information for their clients.

Having initially planned to use HTML to build the client user interface, the developers at Asama quickly realized that any changes to the business logic would require extensive follow-up work in HTML, which could jeopardize their tight project schedule.

Asama therefore needed a comprehensive application development tool that would facilitate the rich web user experience and functionality demanded - but without compromising on speed of development or ability to customize.

Using a single developer, Asama developed the entire Rich internet insurance application within 3 months. Fast development was accredited to uniPaaS RIA’s metadata engine which automatically determines which business logic belongs to the server and which goes to the client.   Asama’s developer was thus able to focus entirely on creating the business logic of the application without worrying about communication processing and synchronization control. uniPaaS RIA’s new client side development studio was also key to providing the rich functionality and intuitive ease of use demanded by e-Net.
