Dove Tree Canyon Software of San Diego, California, designs and deploys software for controlling automated material handling systems in warehouses, distribution centers, and stockrooms. Its Warehouse Control System (WCS) software helps lower the cost of order processing and material handling operations by effectively directing and coordinating carousel, pick-to-light, sortation, conveyor, and other automated systems and equipment.
Challenge
Dove Tree wanted to enhance its warehouse application, so that when looking up an item on a computer, not only the part name and number would be displayed, but also a picture of the part or package to be picked off the shelf or out of the automated warehouse racking system. The warehouse application also controls the automated racking equipment that brings the product directly to the worker.
Solution
Magic’s Application Platform provided the tools to develop a Rich Internet Application (RIA) with all the required functionality. The warehouse environment is particularly well suited to the use of mobile handheld devices, so the ability to deploy Magic applications on mobile devices running on the Windows Mobile operating system was a major factor in the success of the development project.
