Visa Cal, Israel’s leading credit card company, handles the issuing and clearing of the major credit card brands, Visa, MasterCard, and Diners, providing a wide range of services and payment solutions to approximately 1.3 million credit cards and over 50000 businesses throughout Israel.

Requirements

To retain its position as market leader, Visa Cal constantly looks for solutions that will strengthen and improve its extensive sales operations. This commitment led to the decision to develop a system that would provide online information to all sales representatives in the field across Israel. The system was required to provide sales representatives full access via their laptops to all relevant information about their prospective customers, including banks, private enterprises, and loyalty program members.

Solution

The Magic Team within the Visa Cal IT department was awarded the project of developing the new database system, as its plan for a six‐month development life cycle was the fastest of any proposal. Other leading considerations in the decision to award the project were the company’s satisfaction with the robustness and quality of the Magic Software systems already in use in Visa Cal’s data management systems (some for over 17 years), the simple, user‐friendly development interface, and the substantial savings to be made in human and financial resources. All 80 Magic Software systems currently deployed in the company are maintained by a team of just four Magic Software experts.
