Magic Software UK Pioneers New SaaS Path for ISVs

Magic Software Enterprises (UK) Ltd., a subsidiary of Magic Software Enterprises Ltd. (NASDAQ: MGIC), a provider of application platforms and business and process integration solutions, presents a cost effective solution for Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) looking to adopt SaaS – uniPaaS Application Platform suite.

Newly released uniPaaSallows ISVs to cost-effectively deploy two different application models for the same development effort and without the need for expert knowledge, or a new environment. Magic Software UK is also launching a channel-strengthening initiative seeking additional ISVs for the innovative application platform.

“ISVs face two main challenges today”, explains David Akka, Managing Director, UK, Eire, Nordics; Magic Software UK. “They understand that the on-demand, or Cloud model of application deployment will gain them new customers because of its ease of adoption and cost-effectiveness. But firstly, the fact that it’s subscription-based makes it initially harder to grow revenues – an important point in today’s recession climate. Secondly, adopting SaaS means ISV’s would either have to convince all of their existing Client-Server application customers to move to SaaS as well, or pay more to maintain two separate deployment models.

The answer, according to Akka, is to use a new breed of application platforms. “uniPaaS allows ISVs to take the definitions of an already-developed Magic Software Client-Server application, make a slight modification and then deploy it as a SaaS. By reducing the number of technologies needed to build the application, uniPaaS allows ISVs to get their product to market faster while lowering the costs associated with development, deployment and maintenance. This means that ISVs can keep their existing Client-Server application business as well as deploying SaaS applications without financial penalty.”

Magic Software’s uniPaaS uses a metadata-driven engine (ready-made business application engine) that allows users to develop, run and maintain a combination of deployment modes, including desktop, Client/Server, HTML Web Applications, mobile and Web 2.0 RIA, for the cost and time-consumption of a single development effort and code-base.

By using metadata rather than hard code, application delivery time can be cut by up to 50%. It also means that applications powered by uniPaaS are independent of operating system, database and hardware platform. uniPaaS is the evolution of Magic Software’s eDeveloper platform and builds upon twenty-five years of Magic Software’s experience in application development and deployment.

ISVs currently looking for technologies to manage Cloud based application deployment are invited to contact Magic Software to find out more.

Some of Magic Software’s ISVs in the UK include Safe Computing Limited, Topaz Computer Systems Ltd., FactoryMaster and Corero. Channel partners are entitled to receive Magic Software’s Total Customer Care Programme, providing training, strategic guidelines and marketing support.
