Magic Software’s Leadership

Moti Gutman has served as the CEO of Matrix since its inception in 2001, steering the company to its position as Israel’s leading and largest technology and IT services group. From the company’s earliest days, Moti orchestrated the strategic merger of five entities that formed Matrix and led its successful public offering on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in 2002. Over the course of more than two decades of leadership, he has spearheaded the group’s significant growth, overseen the acquisition and integration of over one hundred companies, and consistently driven innovation and market dominance. Before founding Matrix, Moti spent 14 years at Liraz Systems, holding various senior software and leadership positions, and serving as the company’s CEO from 1994 to 2000. During this period, he successfully led the sale of Liraz to EDS. Moti’s professional roots in technology were established during a seven-year tenure at the Center of Computing and Information Systems (Mamram). He holds an MBA with a major in Strategic Management from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, from which he graduated summa cum laude. Beyond his business leadership, Moti is an enthusiastic jazz pianist. He is an active leader of a jazz ensemble, bringing the same dedication and harmony to the stage that he applies to his professional endeavors.

Lior is an entrepreneur and technology executive responsible for strategic growth, operational execution, and the expansion of Matrix’s global market presence. He leads technology-driven business units that deliver software, compliance, and digital transformation solutions to enterprise clients. With over 30 years of executive leadership experience, Lior brings deep expertise in enterprise technology, regulatory compliance, risk management, and organizational transformation. He is recognized for building scalable businesses, driving innovation, and leading complex initiatives in highly regulated environments. Previously, Lior held senior advisory positions at Tier 1 U.S. financial institutions and served as Chief Information Officer of a U.S. healthcare system, where he led enterprise IT strategy and large-scale modernization initiatives. Lior is also an active investor. He holds an educational background in Computer Science and an advanced management degree from Harvard University.

Asaf Berenstin has served as our chief financial officer since April 2010. In November 2011, Asaf was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of our parent company Formula Systems (1985) Ltd. in addition to his position as chief financial officer of our company. Prior to that and from August 2008, Mr. Berenstin served as our corporate controller. Prior to joining our company and from July 2007, Mr. Berenstin served as a controller at Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ: GILT). From October 2003 to July 2008, Mr. Berenstin was a certified public accountant at Kesselman & Kesselman, a member of PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Berenstin holds a B.A. degree in Accounting and Economics and an M.B.A. degree, both from Tel Aviv University, and is a certified public accountant (CPA) in Israel.

Yuval Lavi joined Magic in June 2013 with the mission of providing high-level professional services. After three years as the Global VP of Professional Services, Yuval moved to the position of Global VP of Technology & Innovation. In his new position, Yuval is in charge of defining the company’s technological vision, opening new technology horizons for the company and building strategic technical alliances. Prior to joining Magic, Yuval was General Manager and co-owner of Kopel Reem Software, a position he held since 1996, after beginning his career there as a programmer.

Avi leads the global R&D division at Magic Software Enterprises, overseeing the technological strategy, innovation, and product roadmap for the company’s core platforms. With extensive experience in managing large-scale development and QA operations, Avi specializes in leading Cloud Transformation initiatives, enhancing User Experience (UX), and ensuring product compliance with the industry’s most advanced technological standards.
Avi advocates for a Business-Oriented R&D approach, where technological evolution is driven by market demands and a commitment to creating a competitive edge for the company’s customers. Under his leadership, the R&D teams transform complex technologies into innovative, scalable, and user-friendly solutions, while maintaining operational excellence and high-quality delivery.

Ronen Engler serves as VP Sales at Magic Software, bringing over two decades of experience in building and leading global sales organizations.

Ronen joined Matrix Group at its inception in 2001 and became a member of the management team in 2014. Since 2022, he has led Matrix’s sales operations in the United States as EVP Sales, Matrix USA. Throughout his career, Ronen has held senior sales and leadership roles across Israel, Eastern Europe, and the U.S., playing a central role in expanding international operations and driving long-term growth.

He has been instrumental in establishing and scaling key initiatives, including Matrix Global, Matrix Testing & Automation, and strategic programs supporting startups and workforce development.

Ronen served six years in the Israeli military as a Human Resources Officer and holds a BA in Business Management and Human Resource Management from Ben-Gurion University.

Shai leads the global marketing function at Magic Software, overseeing the company’s marketing strategy, brand positioning, and go-to-market initiatives. With over 20 years of marketing experience, he is responsible for driving growth, strengthening Magic’s market presence, and building scalable demand and lead generation programs that support the company’s business objectives.
Throughout his career, Shai has focused on creating data-driven marketing frameworks and integrated campaigns, with a strong emphasis on translating complex technologies into clear, compelling value for customers. Shai holds a degree in Computer Science and Management from the Open University.

Stephan Romeder, is the General Manager of Magic Software Enterprises Europe and the VP of Global Business Development. He is also the Managing Director of Magic Software Deutschland, covering Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Stephan began his career at Magic in 1996 increasing sales and earning many sales and business awards as he worked his way up the corporate ladder by combining a strong focus on innovation with a commitment to developing long-term relationships with customers, partners and employees. Stephan has a Masters in Business Informatics.

Eric Choppe has over 25 years’ experience in executive management and entrepreneurial experience in leading  technology companies.

Eric is currently Managing Director Southern Europe for Magic Software. Eric also held several positions in Magic Software such as Vice President Sales and Pre Sales for Europe,  Alliance Channel Partner Director, Sales Director.

Eric has a Master of Science in Management.

Toshio Sato serves as President of Magic Software Japan, bringing over 35 years of experience in the application development tools industry.

He began his career in 1990 with U.S.-based software companies and joined Magic Software Japan in 2000. Over the years, Toshio has held several senior leadership roles, including Consultant Director and Marketing Director, gaining deep expertise in both technology and go-to-market strategy.

Today, Toshio leads Magic Software Japan’s efforts to expand the company’s presence and strengthen its value proposition in the Japanese market, driving growth and long-term customer success.

Peter Vos has over 30 years of experience working with Magic Software, with an extensive background in executive management and leadership within the technology sector.
As Managing Director Northern Europe, Peter is responsible for driving regional strategy, business growth, and customer success. Over the years, he has held various senior leadership roles within Magic Software, contributing significantly to the company’s long-term success and market presence across Europe.

Himanshu Patel serves as Chief Revenue Officer (India) at Magic Software Enterprises, where he leads the company’s revenue strategy, market expansion, and customer success across India and the Middle East.

Himanshu joined Magic Software in 2016 and has played a pivotal role in transforming the India operation into a high-growth, innovation-driven business. After initially serving as Head of Sales, he expanded his mandate to CRO, taking ownership of the full revenue lifecycle, including sales, delivery, partnerships, and strategic collaboration.

With over two decades of experience across enterprise sales, P&L leadership, and digital transformation, Himanshu has led impactful programs across multiple industries. By leveraging Magic’s strengths in low-code/no-code development, integration, AI, and automation, he continues to position Magic Software as a trusted digital transformation partner in the region.
